Santo Domingo.- Danilo Medina will travel for the first time on Thursday as President elect, and will visit Colombia and Brazil.

Elected to office May 20, the political will visit the two South American nations, but no specifics have been provided.

The current president Leonel Fernandez gained a reputation as a globetrotters during his 12 years in office, rebuked by some as squandering but hailed by others as attractive to foreign investments.

The politician met with the commission which oversees the handover of office in a hotel of the capital early Wednesday.

While the outgoing Kleptocrat Lie--onel and the incoming Klepotcrat Danilo are gallivanting around the world on the back of the Dominican Taxpayers peso oft look at what the university students at the UASD have to go through:

Protests at UASD following tuition increases

After occupying the Administrative Vice Rectory at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) for several hours in protest at the increase of fees, students left the area but warned they would not give up the fight. A door was broken and a security guard was injured during the protest.

On Monday, July 2, the board of the UASD announced increases of RD$20 per credit in academic fees and RD$300 for enrollment for new students.

The rector of UASD, Mateo Aquino Febrillet justified the increase by saying it would be used to improve the infrastructure of the university.

I am sure the money being WASTED on these DO NOTHING UNNECESSARY TRIPS would go a long way at alleviating some of the INFRACTRSTURE needs at the University!

Excellent post!
If that would be for Joseano, the president would be living in a cave or building mansions in jarabacoa with people's money where he can hide and forgetting about the rest of the world.. ....

Opps.. sorry...I forgot it was true!

Already? And why not? Isn't the govt, by law, supposed to let us know? Can this trip be justified in any way other than just the usual sightseeing junket, a-la Leonel?
Please don't disappoint me Medina. I'm counting on you not to squander our money on useless touring. Just because you can, does not mean you should!..Stay home and do the job you were assigned to do, mainly to resolve our myriad problems!
