Santo Domingo.- President Leonel Fernandez has been contacted by former Inter-American Bank (IDB) president Enrique Iglesias to attempt a mediation to resolve the political conflict in Paraguay unleashed by its ousted president Fernando Lugo’s congressional impeachment last week.
Dominican ambassador in Spain Cesar Medina, who made the revelation Wednesday, said Fernandez agreed to hear Iglesias’ concerns and discuss Paraguay’s political problems stemming from Lugo’s ouster. “Mr. Enrique is Uruguayan and seeks Leonel’s (Fernandez) mediation in an attempt to resolve the conflict in Paraguay from the congressional impeachment of President Lugo.”
In his column published by listin.com.do, the diplomat said despite leaving a long list of activities pending in Spain, “at the last minute, nearly at midnight, it was necessary to add to the schedule activities that he couldn't fail to comply, such as an interview with Mr. Enrique Iglesias, Secretary General of the Segib (Secretariat General of Ibero-America),” and a prominent Uruguayan economist.
“Fernandez has become a benchmark of international political mediation when crises arrive at the highest level of tension,” Medina said.

the OBAMA administration. They were ready to take the case to the international court That is
when US asked LF to handle the situation. He thought that was a jump start as a LA mediator
and a place in the UN Uribes is a conservative in Colombia, placed by the USA. When we got
booted out of (MANTA) Ecuador by not extending the lease in that Pacific air base ,Colombia gave
them the OK to build7 bases in COLOMBIAN territory. No doubt LF is an opportunist and a clever
politician. but he is out for himself and what he can achieve in his political career in his world
wide visits at DR expense,so he is a user, As a president he suchs.DR could not be in any worse
