Santo Domingo.- Wednesday  afternoon’s strong winds left various areas of the country’s south region without power including the Greater Santo Domingo, where the utility Edesur reports work to restore service.

It said the strong winds and downpours knocked out parts of 10 networks in Santo Domingo, Azua, Bani, Barahona and San Juan de la Maguana, and two in San Cristobal.

In a statement Edesur added that the bad weather affected the power lines in those areas leading to multiple failures, including toppled posts, downed cables and a damaged substation.
