Santiago.- General Miguel Raul de la Cruz Reyna, fired as Northeast Police Commander, Friday afternoon defended the actions of agents who stormed the San Francisco courthouse jail cell  and sprung a corporal incarcerated in connection with the killing of a civilian.

The general, who was reassigned without a command, said there’s evidence that Marino Alfonso Torres as about to be murdered within the cell where people he didn’t identify tried to smuggle poisoned food three times.

He said the agents went to the jail cell to pull Torres out and thwart any criminal action against him. "We are not all criminals and thugs, many of us have valor and we’re responsible. I’m solely responsible here and all the consequences have to fall over me."

The National Police named a commission to investigate the incident in which at least 50 police officers took part.

"General" Miguel Raul de la Cruz Reyna..

LOL The fact that this fool thinks he's actually a general, and belongs to a society that also believes the fallacy, is a big part of the problem. Degenerate is more like it. The two words are awfully similiar so I can see where the mistake may have come from.

Always we must hear the other side of the story, but in no instances there is any excuse for bypassing the rule of law. If the prisoner's life was in jeopardy while in jail, then he should have been moved to another prison, or location. His police buddies could have taken the petition to the prison guards and the prison civilian authorities, to be done in urgency.

Granted. But this is the Dominican Police we're talking about, not an organization known for being on the side of right. These are the goons that have been harassing me for a hand out since I was a boy. Always the same..they'll approach with their slimy smiles and insincere placations peppered with hidden threats to get some chump change from you. I've always felt that they strive to create an image of an occupying force rather than one genuinely concerned with keeping people safe. The culture of the security forces in DR is seriously flawed to say the least. Totally at odds with their purpose.

well I think it was maybe a stitch in time saves nine ,,and that is very unusual here ,,normally the hole in the road is so deep that it kills someone before it is repaired ..Maybe the man would have died if no action was taken and then we would have said why did not the police go in if they knew he was being poisoned but who knows the facts ??

Both parties are guilty, no one has the rights to beat/lynch another in jail nor does a commander which "represents" a whole police region, can liberate a murderer/criminal.

If they are not criminals and thugs what are they?

If we paid them a living wage we could have real policemen.

I have always tried to make the best out of every situation and to try to think positively ..I wrote some weeks ago that the first priority should be to reduce the wages of the departmental heads and to reduce the number of ministers and to pay the police a godd wage ..you can find my comments .
I also wrote here that saving a mans life is something but no one else thinks the end justifies the means in this situation.. in this country and especially in san francisco nothing is conventional

I have just seen the video of the very quick action in the cells and then the return to the police station ..the only problem on the video was when journalists tried to enter the police station area ...It is an very interesting video with a very fat lady sitting as apassenger on a motor bike waving a pistol at everyone ..not too sure who she was

That was the same reasoning you used to JUSTIFY MONEY LAUNDERING which now you are running away from and afraid the DEA will show up at your house one day!

René del Risco, poet and publicist, said that we were a special country. And he was right.
We are a special country where the theft of a plane at an airport passes as a normal everyday occurrence, where thieves steal wires of the main bridge of the capital and nothing happens, where a prisoner, Adriano Román, sent to kill a lawyer (Jordie Veras) who managed to do justice with a judgment against him, and everything remains the same.

We are a special country because the police officers and the Commander of the national police in the region of San Francisco de Macorís "liberated" agent, Marino Alfonso Torres, who had killed a young man, Puro Emanuel Diaz Lopez, to impeded the justice system from doing its work.
The assault on the Court was an event similar to those you see in the movies of the old American West. The police commander said he didn't know of the assault. Unusual.

We are a special country because a truck carrying gold from a mine of the State was robbed on the Duarte highway when the drivers stopped to relive themselves, opportunity exploited by thieves.

The President-elect, to learn the specialty of the country, intends to do that was never done.

Let's see how far we can go in this country full of surprises.

If the problem was fearing for the loss of life of the colleage because a mob of 10 were ready to lynch the detainee, how about, rather then bust him out by force, use the same force as additional security to prevent a lynching?

That would have been more justifiable.

Lock up and fire the savages!
