SANTO DOMINGO.- Public Health Minister Bautista Rojas promised to disclose the results of the studies to be conducted on salamis, just one day after the Haitian Government announced a ban on its import from Dominican Republic.

He said the analyses will be according to global standards.

The official revealed that a committee was designated to ensure the product’s quality and the support from the Pan American Health and Nutrition Institute.

Rojas added that the country’s sausage makers have been convened to learn of the purpose and scope of the study that seeks to determine the quality of locally produced and consumed salami.

Haitian delegation

The row that began with the revelation that fecal coliform was found in samples of salami unleashed a scandal and led to Haiti’s ban on the sausage and has prompted the visit of Haitian lawmakers and business leaders to several meat processing plants nationwide.

The Haitian delegation visited the facilities of the Induveca meat processing company, in central La Vega, to see firsthand how salamis and other sausages are made.

"Haiti lawmakers visit sausage plants as salami row crosses border"
When I read the title of the article I actually laughed....LOL

Can you believe a full delegation of Haitian govt officials were sent specifically to visit a sausage factory. This actually provoked an international incident. I mean, I can understand their concern, but a "delegation," Is this not a little extreme ? They made a federal case out of this

Does not Haiti have much worse problems then to worry about potentially contaminated sausages? They can barely feed their people for crying out loud. With the prevalent insanitary conditions found all over Haiti, their body defense system is well immune to any trace of fecal matter they may ingest or heat might not be able to destroy

I have been to Haiti and seen what people eat in the streets and it will kill any one of us in a matter of minutes, but they all seem to be doing find and dandy. Therefore, comparatively, Dominican sausage is caviar for Haiti

La cortina de humo?

guillermone,

I agree whole heartedly. On the upswing though; I have started to perfect the art of reading while shaking my head in disbelief.

Open Question: Does the DR import SO much sausage into Haiti that they can actually come in to oversee and then wag the dog per se? This is a serious question BTW. This grand circumstance would indicate that Haiti actually holds some level of sway in DR industry. Is there so much money at stake that the DR government would actually listen? Someone give me a quick 101 on this please?

@Spinach you are a real class act................I need not say one word...........your posting says much about you. .

@Mr Sensation, I am an embarrassment for the whole DR ???? That's funny, last time I noticed your president Sweet Mickey dressed up in female garb and shaking up his booty. Now you tell me who of the two is more of an embarrassment ?

But it is ok, you probably don't know the definition or meaning of the word or have the ability to tell the difference.

And if I were you I would be the one embarrassed as a Haitian........Did you read the article ? They sent the embassador of Haiti to examine a sausages.............LOL...........I am surprised Sweet Mickey did not come along for the ride and show up for a taste test.

Hmmm........ I just love them kakasausage..........

You might be right, i may not know the meaning or definition of the word embarrassment. But i can tell that you're a complete nincompoop.... Shame on Dominicans like you but thank God there are good ones still out there...

Mr Sensation why don't you team up with Spinach, like Batman and Robin, together will make a dynamic duo.

Nevertheless, I understand very well your modus operandi. When you both have nothing to say, no solid basis to defend your position, have no choice but resort to personal insults. If you notice I have not lowered myself to your level and got into a mud or Kaka slinging contest. I keep my chin up and my head high. Unfortunately, wish I could say the same for you both.

Now how about we make peace and celebrate, perhaps I will serve some food and drink. Don't worry no Dominican sausage here. I have some nice warm, fresh out ot the oven mud cookies that we can eat and drink with ice cold milk.

HaitianSensation,

Guess the Taino weren't wrong when they called your part of the island "Guacayarima" (the island's ass). It certainly fits your character rather well, by behaving as you do as "Ass-ysyen".

What's the matter? Did i hurt your lil feelings? I'm kinda sorry if i did. N btw the island wasn't split in the Taino era. The island was called Ayiti which means mountainous island. #FACT

Says the one that is (very) butthurt at guillermone's telling it like it is. I'm just amused at how retarded some of you Hate-ians can get. Last time I saw, the island was divided in five main chiefdoms at the time of the Spaniards arrival, and these five chiefdoms/kingdoms had many subdivisions on them. As for the word Guacayarima, look for it on google, my little phony friend, this one is your friend.

P.S.: You don't have to remind us of your wannabeness, we're well aware that the true Ayitians are (or rather, were) the Taino, but sadly, they're no longer with us. Keep drinking from that Haterade, cuz' in the meanwhile, we will just keep doing like the Walkerman and keep walking...

If the Haitian delegation care so much about the well being of their brothers, why didn't they take some of the dumped homeless Haitians kids and women begin in our Dominican soil?????
