Santo Domingo.- Six prisoners and three guards were injured during yesterday’s prison riot in La Isleta Correction and Rehabilitation Center in Moca.

The unrest is reported to have erupted at noon following a drugs confiscation.

Two of the injured guards were named as Francisco Cabrera and Milanés. The injured prisoners’ names have not been released but according to reports they burned mattresses, and broke toilets and water tanks.

The authorities had to intervene to restore order and the injured prisoners were taken to a local medical center for treatment.

Prison director Adolfo Serrata confirmed that the riot was caused after prison guards confiscated drugs that prisoners were trying to smuggle into the center.

They weren't just trying to smuggle it, they were using it. The prisoners they rushed to the hospital looked high as f%ck. I have to admit, it was pretty funny when they threw the tinaco off the roof.

Beat down for all prisoners involved or make them disappear.
