Santo Domingo. - The power held by the two generals close to ex president Leonel Fernandez is a thing of the past, after a considerable number of those senior officers and colonels who were part of his inner circle were left without functions in the various military branches.

The changes by president Danilo Medina have morphed major generals Belisario Medina and Ramon Aquino from two of the most influential commanders in military decisions to the anonymity of silence.

The machinery attributed to the two senior officers has come to a full halt, and will likely pave the way for a new generation of officers in the various branches.

Medina signalled his intent to shake up the military with his first decree, which named admiral Sigfrido Pared Minister of the Armed Forces.

It's too soon to determine the integrity and the intent of this new suit. The Dominican governments track record shows that all initial decree and constitutional acts are amended after a foothold is established. We learned this from the Leo administration.

we have to wait at least a year to determine if this administration really wants to change things around for the better. New policies and regulations take time to sink in.

If Medina is as dedicated to govern, as he was in remaining focused to getting elected after falling out with Leonel. Then he just might, might actually carry out what he has promised. I think, believe that slowly he will get rid of the old clic. Then again he might not.

that should not be too difficult to accomplish, since Leonel is not exactly a very bright bulb
