Santo Domingo.- Heavy rain is still falling in Haiti and the Dominican Republic as the center of Tropical Storm Isaac is leaving La Hispaniola island and heads toward Cuba.
Haiti experienced 51 mms of rain in some areas, the country still has over
400,000 inhabitants living in makeshift tents.
Isaac was expected to weaken again crossing much of the length of Cuba
on Saturday and remain a tropical storm as it approaches the Keys on
Sunday. It is predicted to reach hurricane status by
Monday evening.

50cm's of rain??? Can the editor quote the source of this and what areas where effected? I have gone to some major sites and cannot find any other confirmation of this much rainfall.
Thanks

Mike, would you like to borrow my reading glasses? The article clearly states "51 mms" (about 2 inches).

Still 400,000 haitians on tents? how long has it been?, more then 2 years already ? Thay should already group up, build a new and better community together... This clearly shows how retrogressive their mentality is, and then they want to bring their garbage to DR and make it even worst then what it is already.. shaking my head.

What gets me is where is all that money pledged after the quake ?
I hope for the sake of the Haitian people should aide be needed this time around those who wish to donate are not discouraged turning them off by the NO ACCOUNTABILITY......AND STILL THE WORLD SITS SILENT.
I say private donations do much better without Haitian Gov. intervention/assistance.

Dready,
Perhaps you were not aware of it, but the ORIGINAL news item STATED 50cm of rain!
Then DT posted 50mm.
Both times people asked the value converted into inches.
Dreamkiller,
I think Dready is past those days. He may be knocking down some Brugal with his buddy Josean. :)

I was in Zona Colnial thursday and friday and saturday and today sunday ,,,and I have measured more than 10 inches on my guage ..but that may have included a few days before ..it was infinitely heavier in certain parts than in others ..for example I left Zona Colonial on saturday in ferocious rain to go to the new Jumbo etc on the corner of Lincoln and JFkennedy where there was no rain ..by the way ..worth avoiding until it is properly finished
Thanks
