Case of Haitian national and murder suspect Amara Duclonal raised the question of why no extradition treaty.

Santo Domingo.- The National District prosecutor Yeni Reynoso yesterday questioned Dominican Republic’s lack of extradition treaty with its island-neighbor, Haiti.

She asked how it is possible to have an extradition treaty with the United States and not have such an agreement with the neighboring country.

The official also slammed the persecution against organized crime, which in her view in carried out the same way it was done 20 years ago.

Reynoso stressed that while organized crime uses technology and other leading edge resources, the authorities must take 14 steps to seek international cooperation into a crime.

The DA also questioned the lack of the figure of the conspiracy in Dominican Penal Code, citing the recent investigation into retired colonel Pedro Julio (Pepe) Goico’s alleged plotting against Haiti’s government, from Dominican territory.

Reynoso urged an amendment to the Penal Code, because in her view the current legislation dates back to 1846.

Then again, the treaty in effect with the criminal country leaves many extraditable offenses being excluded. However, the local puppets still bend over for Washington and extradite despite not being part of the treaty. Extrajudicial. Illegal.
