SANTO DOMINGO.- Dozens of employees who’ve been fired by the Comptroller General’s Office set up a picket Wednesday morning at the agency’s offices, to demand a halt to the layoffs and their return to their jobs.
Speaking for the protesters, Raquel Reynoso said even though she’s held her job as administrative assistant for 15 years and is a Civil Service career employee, was laid off Friday along with 34 co-workers.
Pickets in hand, the protesters warned they’ll keep fighting until their dismissals are revoked, citing violations of the Civil Service Law and the Constitution.
The protest comes just days after the Government advised senior officials against “en masse dismissals.”
