Santo Domingo.- Rains will continue for much of the country from a trough over the Mona Passage and the prevailing East-Northeast wind, the National Weather Office (Onamet) forecast Thursday.

It said thunderstorms and occasional gusts of wind will accompany the rains as of Thursday afternoon, mostly for the North, Northeast, Southeast, Central Mountains and border area.

Onamet said the rains will decrease Friday on Saturday.

Tropical Storm Nadine meanwhile was located around 1,320 miles east-northeast of the Lesser Antilles, moving northwest at around 26 kph with maximum sustained winds of 110 kph, but poses no threat to the Dominican Republic.
