Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Army Chief of Staff on Friday said more than 800 soldiers who were at the service of individuals were reassigned to the border and they expect to “recover” another 3,000 who’re in that situation.
Major general Ruben Paulino Sems said the soldiers will be retrained starting October 1, and the Army will continue to deploy soldiers at the border in groups of 30.
"We’ve recovered 800 so far and some soldiers, junior and senior officers, and enlisted as well of an estimated 3,500 that we will recover. Not everyone will go to the border because we’re reinforcing the other camps and others which have their weaknesses," the senior officer said.
Paulino, who announced the new border region Security Task Force, noted that the Army has other duties such as the custody of prisons. "We have 14 prisons scattered throughout the country and we need to strengthen their security."
Dog bathers and shopping cart pushers
A former police chief popularized the terms “dog bathers” and “shopping cart pushers” when he announced a similar measure to “recover” agents who despite getting a paycheck worked for individuals, doing everything from picking up kids at schools to bathing dogs and pushing shopping carts for the wives and lovers of wealthy individuals.

What a GREAT country !!!!!
Where else can you go and get servants who will cook, clean, go shopping, take your dog for a walk, do windows and also have military training. Now that is one way to put those idle warriors to good use.

Sad and embarrassing, using Soldiers as personal “peons”. They need to conduct a formal investigation and court martial the entire chain of command responsible for this fiasco and charge them with misuse of government resources. Some of you guys who had served are familiar with a 15-6, investigation.

I laugh at this because my ex-wife's (dominicana) brother was assigned to a Judge here as a chauffeur/bodyguard. He is with the PN not the Military. Anyways he doesn't know how to drive a car. He mostly helped doing houshold chores, gardening and played dominos with the judge if they were a man short.
"Every dog has it's day" but not Fido,in this case there will be allot of unbathed dogs as most Dominican's wouldn't dream of getting their hands dirty bathing their faithful pooch.. Justice is served !

I know of various of these members that are not "lava perros", but are "assigned" to politicians that let them work in other places. The politicians "receive" their checks, but the member never receives it.
According to them, it's SOP.

It is a little bit strange to see a photgraph here of the contingent of Dominican Soldiers who went to fight in Iraq. They are the only Dominican Soldiers who have served in a real wartime situation. To compare them to "Dog washers" is out of form.

The Dominican military needs to be reduced by about 75%.
Who are their enemies ????
Haiti doesnt have an army ... furthermore, the entire country could be controlled by one or two US Marine battalions and a gunship.

This so call General is not doing its job to its fullest ;
Every soldier no matter its nationality has a dog tag same as a"CEDULA" where it has rank, serial # ,blood type and unit.
Now more so,they know who he is with a computer profile where he is assigned and to whom.If they kave lost their record they could always go by the soldier's last pay check # All these could have been done over night if they wanted and got off their asses, but that will take a bit of work which they are not willing to do for the same pay.
What he is saying is B/S ,soldiers don't guard prissons unless it is A MILITARY PRISSON and it
is done by (MP)police within the military. I think what he is waiting to see who comes up with good
cash so as to let them keep their so needed "dog washers"
This is another example of a half ass military .They should get court martial and charged accordingly as ingles23 said above.

Hey primo,
Cojerlo suave!!! I have you ever wonder, why all those high ranking guys in DR have huge pot bellies?? They are not soldiers; have zero combat experience?? Furthermore, is that army a necessity???? Absolutely, NO!!!!!! It is a dinero sucking business!!!!!!
