SANTO DOMINGO. - Eight bales of cocaine have been found by local and United States authorities so far, foiling a drug trafficking operation near Saona Island, in the country’s southeast.

The drugs were dumped  overboard from a speedboat sailing from South America, after pursuit by the authorities, according to an official source quoted by diariolibre.com.

The joint operation with the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD), the Navy and the US Coast Guard which began Monday night continues today, but there are no arrests thus far.

What about the boat? This doesn't sound like a very effective operation. I doubt the US is admitting any part of it because they know once you tell a Dominican official you basically just told the guys you plan on arresting.

Has any one wonder where those cocaine goes after it is found? No no one can tell. My opinion
it gets recycled and back in the market,to keep the corrupted officials in business. Some times it
is shown as been burned. I would not be too sure that what is burned is the real stuff. It would be
like burning gold.
