Santo Domingo.- Thursday afternoon’s Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE) ruling allowing a disciplinary hearing against ex president Hipolito Mejia paves the way for the definitive split of Dominican Republic’s major opposition party PRD, headed by his internal opponent, Miguel Vargas

The TSE ruled against the appeal filed by Mejia’s sympathizers who sought to halt an official notification to appear before the PRD’s Disciplinary Committee on Friday.

In addition to Mejia, the justices’ ruling also paves the way for the expulsion general secretary Orlando Jorge; organization secretary Geanilda Vasquez, and acting president Andres Bautista.

During the hearing held under tight security with antiriot police placed around the court located at the Centro de los Heroes (La Feria), the TSE ruled that the citation of Mejia and PRD colleagues was conducted properly and didn’t infringe their rights.

And guess which party is going to catch some of the fleeing ducks?

Only need 5-10% for a Super Majority Party.

Let's see what happens.

Meanwhile the Real World PURPLE PLAGUE continues to destroy our children:

Dominican Republic failing children

According to a document published by the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef), the significant progress made by the Dominican economy over the last few years has not been sufficient to improve the lives of children and adolescents in the poorest areas of the country. The inequality, according to the data, is reflected in the high level of infant mortality (32 for every 1000 live births compared to 23 in the rest of Latin America and the Caribbean) despite the fact that 98% of births are attended by qualified personnel. In terms of malnutrition rates, which are at 3.1% nationally, they increase to 10.5% in the border area and 14% among children of Haitian women. The report also highlights the low level of attendance at high school, which is 52% among teenage girls and 37% among boys and the proliferation of abuse, sexual exploitation and child trafficking.

According to Unicef, one of the main challenges facing the country is access to quality basic social services to help this group get out of poverty with the data showing that 12.9% of children between 5 and 14 are working compared to 8% in the region as a whole and 20.8% of children under the age of five do not have a birth certificate compared to 9% in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Law doesn't allow it, not that means anything to PLD!

Here is more PLD efficiency:

Hardly anyone pays traffic fines

Only 3% of the traffic fines issued by agents of the Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET) are actually paid because Law 241 does not actually enforce payment. Despite this more than a million tickets have been issued in the last two years.Amet is now asking for a modification in the law to ensure that the fines must be paid within a month, or they will be subject to interest. In addition they are suggesting that non-payers should be prevented from renewing their driver's license, national identity card (cedula) and should be banned from leaving the country.Because the law is so flexible, Amet will often impound a vehicle to make people pay the fine, which in itself is in violation of the law, but they say they only do this when the driver does not have the ownership documents for the vehicle (matricula), or is drunk or driving dangerously.

Amet have said that they would like to collect 100% of the fines issued for traffic violations, so that they can be issued as they should be and to implement an road traffic education program for drivers.

That's why we need better accounting AND higher taxation-TO REGIONAL LEVELS!- on the wealthier segments of the population in order for the State to finance better public services for all; especially the most vulnerable members of the society.

This will be hard to achieve because of strong elite pressure, but all the more satisfying when it happens. And the stronger the State, the better the chances for this to occur.

Melanio Paredes throws Saint Danilo under the school bus and Lie-onel under the METRO!

Things are just Peachy at the "Super Majority Party!"

Atabey "here we go again!" is like an old 45 rpm record que está rayado.
The PRD will split, a few will go with Miguel Gangster Maldonado, until the money rans out, then they will return to the PRD and the majority will stay with Hipoloco Mierjia, with the delight of the PLD mega-corruptors, their offspring and the children of their children, amen.

Generoso,

Yes, but I think some may leave the disorganization and find their nest in the PLD. All the PLD really needs is to hold on to their portion and add say 5-10% to become dominant.

Josean have they taught you yet about "and"?

Some people can chew gum AND think at the same time. Gerald was rumored to not be able to, but perhaps the leadership of the DR can do so in future.
