Santo Domingo.- Labor minister Maritza Hernandez on Friday said the case of the Haitian migrants who demand payment for their work is beyond her agency’s jurisdiction, but stressed its commitment to the respect for human dignity.
"I will never agree with abuse and arbitrariness against any person, whether local or foreign," the official said in a press conference, where she referred to the coconut packer Coquera Real, which the Haitians say owes them 12 months back pay.
She said the case was sent to the San Cristobal Labor Court to ensure mediation and an agreement, and bring the Haitian workers’ 29-day old protest to an end.
The Haitian Francisco Ojilu, speaking for the 112 colleagues camped outside the Labor Ministry, said all they want is their money to return home. "We cannot take it anymore."
He said Coquera Real owner Rafael Emilio Alonso Luna (Billo) has a lot of power and is able to turn the authorities against them, for which they called on president Danilo Medina to intervene and seek a solution to their situation.

Then you hear that a Haitian has decided to harm old Luna. Then you hear that those Haitians are
maldito. Stop doing evil to these poor people and nobody will consider an evil response. If this were Jamaica, old Luna would already be fertilizing the ground.

If these people worked with the mutual understanding that they would get paid for their labor then, irrespective of their immigration status, they must be paid. Period. That is the correct thing to do, and correctness knows no border or immigration status, or creed.
I'd much rather side with the man that earns his keep by physical labor and the sweat of his brow , than with the privileged and conceited bastard that tries to take advantage of a working man.
Now, let the rock throwing begin.

Agreed with you two, chill and glo, although in my case I'm more inclined to go farther and apply a Chinese sentence to that Alonso Luna guy and the likes of him, as in, making them face a good ole firing squad in the Parque Independencia. Even to this day, Toussaint and Sonthonax's (as well as Mao Tse Tung's) adage that liberty and power comes from the barrel of a gun/musket/rifle applies to the hilt.

Yes, Lautaro, nice to see that we finally do agree.

Being overly concern about Public Relations is not going to solve our problem of HAITIAN INVATION.
Doing something about it will.
Put that priest in jail, and deport all illegal Haitians out of our country.
This is the beginning of a disaster waiting to happen. The enemy is already inside our home.
What we need is a president with a big crotch (con Bragueta), like TRUJILLO or BALAGUER.
They surely put things in their proper perspective concerning Haitian Invation.
They where not afraid of international pressures, because they believed in the rights of DR as a sovereign nation to implement its migration laws.
DOMINICANOS TONTOS!!
SI NO PONEN UN PARO A LA INVACION HAITIANA PRONTO SE QUEDARAN SIN CASA.

You want another devil as your leader. Why not resurrect Hitler? What the hell are you doing in the United States under Obama's leadership? You want life nice for you and horrible for your country. Go do something with more purpose like sitting on an egg and hatching chicks!

May I ask what her job is then? sounds to me she is passing the buck. To my understanding
she was "it". Unless she is filling another BOTELLA ?

Furthermore, if you are so concern about the fate of the people of Haiti, you should advocate to receive in JAMAICA, at least 1 Million, of the two or three millions we already have here illegally.
Then you can comment with known cause, by knowing first hand how it feels.
