Santo Domingo.- Money laundering convict Sobeida Felix arrived escorted Wednesday afternoon at the San Cristobal Courthouse, where the Sentencing Judge is expected to rule on her request for parole.
Felix, who’s serving a five year prison term convicted in the drug trafficking case against her paramour, Puerto Rican kingpin Jose Figueroa Agosto, last week claimed that the National District Office of the DA reneged on the conditions of her plea bargaining.
Last week the inmate unleashed another scandal when she affirmed that Figueroa had given opposition PRD party president Miguel Vargas at least US$300,000 for his failed run for the Presidency in the 2008 election.

is that a scandal just to give money to a political party ..surely money is given by a large range of people and companies all expecting something in return . Now if she disclosed who appointed the disgraced army officer who worked for LF and who was deported from the USA or the various people that came to her home with her husband or which officers assisted her in leaving the country even though she had forfieted her passport , that would be better . I was watching a case relating to a nasty robbery recently in el palacio de justicia and the prosecutor informed the judges tha he and the lawyer for the defendent had reached an agreement on the period in prisonfor the accused .The senior judge was very angry and reminded the prosecutor that it was the job of the judges to determine the sentance ..It was one of the few times I felt happy in court here.

She will be denied bail as promised (in writing none the less!) , which is a rip off, and will do more to diminish the already low public credibility of the justice department.
I have no qualms regarding her culpability or not, that is not the question here. The thing that bothers me regarding this case, is that Sobeida cut an official deal to squeal on the other perps, it was notarized, signed, sealed and delivered, and now they are reneging on it, which should go on Ripley's "believe it or not". Unbelievable.
The DR is reverting to be similar like Somalia, where there is no justice system, other than whatever armed gangs deliver.

generoso , quite as a coincidence , I was talking to a man who had his case first heard in Higuey and he was granted bail ,In this case he was falsely accused . The prosecution moved the case to San Pedro and before it was heard there , a deal was struck between the parties and was notarized and signed by the judge in san Pedro ... Now some 2 years later , the prosecutor in Higuey wants his slice of cake also or the accused will be sent to prison because the case was not totally closed off in Higuey .There is no person accusing now but an innocent person has to pay up more or go to prison based on superficial evidence two years ago

The complaints just keep coming, and things get worse and worse. The lawyers are not even accepting plain notarized signatures, but also finger prints as well, as there are many cases that the persons who signed, are saying that they didn't. Things will get worse, before they get better, and then.........fasten your seat belts...........REVOLUCION! Just like in 1965.
