Santo Domingo.-  The Justice Ministry’s Disciplinary Board on Thursday fired La Vega prosecutor Leiny Yolanda Rosario Solis for misconduct in her functions.

Rosario becomes the fourth prosecutor to be fired in as many weeks, after Ivelisse Casado, from Santo Domingo province, and Soraine Vargas and Pedro Adael García, from San Pedro de Macoris, both of whom were incarcerated.

Rosario is banned from working within the Justice Ministry and will be ineligible for any other government post during the next five years.

The indictment says the ex official prevented Police agents from arresting Edwin La Vega Fernando Morillo Galán and from searching a vehicle he was driving, on suspicion of carrying an illegal weapon and drug trafficking.

Rosario staged another incident at the Police Internal Affairs in Santo Domingo in May 11 last year, when she went to denounce a colonel, a captain, and a first lieutenant, to prevent Morillo’s arrest on a warrant. Morillo faces various charges in La Vega, including the alleged murder of an agent.

Allegedly Morillo and Rosario have a romantic relationship.

Rosario says she’s honest

"I am an honest person and have spent most of my time studying and preparing myself. I made three different masters and courses in different parts of the world," she said, denying any links to drugs.

I wonder why it takes eight months from the May incident for the disciplinary board to sack the woman. She was under official scrutiny for her actions one would "reasonably" expect she would have been discreetly suspended from service pending the results of an investigation. But of course, logical thinking and logical response this behavior escapes the actions of Dominican authorities as all decisions are not weighed on the scale of justice, but more importantly to the authorities, on the scale of political convenience.

Excellent example of the fact that education and intelligence do not necessarily go hand in hand. Certainly, one could be intelligent but uneducated. On the other hand, as exemplified by this case, one could be highly educated but unintelligent.

That's positive moment on the corruption front. More is needed but the message is being sent to others across the land. This news has to be given LOTS OF MEDIA COVERAGE so it will have the effects we all want in DR. Certainly it will never stop all such corruption, but at the very least will cause many to reconsider certain choices now, and in the future.

three master degrees and she still does not know right from wrong ? She should have been forced to resign after taking up with a criminal period. Must be a very good lover to have her defend him and lose a well paying job.

Clean house!! Should just fire them all and start over. Throughout my career It has been my experience that prosecutors are inherently self righteous and arrogant pricks with their own agenda. They often times forget that they work and serve at the behest of the people. Perfect example of blind arrogance- "I am an honest person and have spent most of my time studying and preparing myself. I made three different masters and courses in different parts of the world,"

She should be struck off - with no return....... 5 years is nothing...... All corrupt actions should mean disbarment which lasts for life...... I seem to second most of the posters here on this topic - I do have to ask what she's been preparing herself for though!
@ telemeco - I think the word "huevo" in this context begins with a 'g' not an 'h'.... lmao :)

You want a romantic relationship with her? Not me, it would be like making love to a fluorescent light bulb in the bed. She needs sun!

She needs sun!

Don't you remember she has 3 masters. She spends most of the time inside and just got out of the library or is it the bedroom?

Well she is not sure which is which.

Miss Crema Perlina is full of it, furthermore all that self praise still shows, non repentance for her delinquent activities. The punishment is way too lenient for the crime, in another era she would have been stoned to death or crucified.
La blanquita needs to pay a visit for a few years, to one of the DR "model" jails, so she will learn her lesson, after being used as a pet slave, to one of the many tough Doñas there.

What, no jail?
Crocked judges should have the book throw ant them.
Australian judge Marcus Einfeld lied to avoid a $77 speeding fine. He got 2 years in jail for it. Harsh but necessary to maintain confidence in the judiciary.
