Pay rise for Chamber of Deputies employees

The Chamber of Deputies has increased employees' salaries by between 10 and 40% effective from this month.

Department directors will now receive RD$130,000 gross salary per month and managers RD$90,000.

Chamber president Abel Martinez said that they had adjusted the salaries of employees who had joined the institution as secretaries and assistants, but were still on the same salary although they had become more qualified and progressed.

I met a dominican detective who was put in charge of an investigation on one of the tourist hotspots that had a rampant child sex abuse problem. They did their jobs and after a lenghty operation arrested a large amount of children pimps, their parents, and many tourists- not all men. They also rescued many children, some as young as 2, girls and boys. The day after the arrests he shows up to work and EVERYONE he arrested was gone and the so were the children. His commander told him that he had been ordered to release everyone by the higher command and that it was bigger than him. He was quickly reassigned to another part of the country and he and his family were threatened and told to never speak of it again. He couldn't stop thinking of those children. Thats our country. Thats what the president needs to fix. There is no hope for the good people.
