Santo Domingo.-  San Juan province senator Félix Bautista yesterday filed for damages and slander charges against the journalist Juan TH, Bienvenido Rodríguez, owner of popular radio station Z-101, and its director Willy Rodríguez.

The lawmaker’s lawyers, who filed the suit at the National District Criminal Chamber, said the three will have to prove that the ruling PLD party Senator has stolen from the country.

"The amount of this civil lawsuit is 50 million pesos," said the attorneys for Bautista, a close collaborator of former president Leonel Fernandez.

The lawmakers has already filed similar charges against the writer Andres L. Mateo, the economists Jaime Aristy and Juan A. Ayuso,

I suspect this suspect senator subscribes to the theory of the best defense is a powerful offense.

He will find out it is just a theory.

THIS IS THE WAY THEY DO IT IN THE REAL WORLD. FORMER PRIME TURKS AND CAICOS TO BE EXTRADITED FROM BRAZIL.“a high probability of systematic corruption and/or other serious dishonesty,” in the Turks and Caicos. Auld also criticized the high-flying lifestyles of government officials including former Premier Michael Misick, who is currently in custody in Brazil and fighting extradition.

The British $11-million-a year-investigation has been aided by the U.S. Department of Justice. Investigators have combed through tens of thousands of pages of evidence as part of their case against Misick and four of his ministers. Among their findings: suspicious land deals, unpaid government bills and possible fraud, bribery and money laundering.

Lawyers also have recovered 3,000 acres of ill-gotten government-owned land worth $100 million, along with $20 million in cash,

Israel's former President Moshe Katsav has been sentenced to seven years in jail for rape and other sex offences.

He was convicted at an earlier hearing of raping an employee in the 1990s when he was tourism minister, and of later sexual offences while he was president.

The rape victim, known as Woman A, told the court he had first attacked her at the tourism ministry office, and later at a hotel in Jerusalem.

Katsav, 65, resigned from the largely ceremonial post of president in 2007.

He had initially agreed with prosecutors to plead guilty to sexual misconduct, avoiding more serious charges.

But he later withdrew the agreement and denied the rape allegations.

Sentencing Katsav - the first former Israeli head of state to be jailed - the judges told him no-one was above the LAW........ NOT IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC .ABOVE THE LAW?

My thought is this guy's behavior is focusing more eyes into his activities. Where is his brain, out to lunch ? One has to think of what is the source of his financing all of these suits against those he alleges have slandered him. How did he acquire the funds ? Lawyers do not come cheap.

He would do himself a service if he remains silent.

Bautista feels above the law and nobody can touch him.Nobody should be able to say anything bad about him either. He is nothing more than a corrupt monkey that should be hung in public to show what happens to corrupt officials.

"No to fear. No to silence"

By JUAN T H

José Martí the Cuban Apostle said that "big is the word when riding the reason" and that this (the word) "is not to hide the truth, but to say it".

Mr Félix Bautista intends to sue me for telling the truth. An inescapable truth, in view of all those who want to see and even of those who don't want to see. ("The truth is always revolutionary," said Lenin, the father of the Russian proletarian Revolution) and it still is! (Say the Christians that Christ died for the truth)

If for telling the truth I have to go to jail, I go without sorrow.

If for telling the truth I have to pay with my life, I pay with pleasure.

The lowlifes of power do not frighten me nor do the buffoons of the Empire’s Court cause me to laugh. I do not hide as a beetle, or will I leave fleeing like a panicked Gazelle.

I assume the consequences of my actions with dignity and decorum, because Marti wrote, better a minute on your feet than a lifetime on your knees.

The purpose of these lawsuits against Jaime Aristy Escuder, Andrés. L. Mateo, Jose Alejando Ayuso and me, are aimed to scare and intimidate the few owners of the media and journalists that corruption money has not been able to buy or silence.

Behind that action or skirmish, which seeks to limit the expression and dissemination of critical thinking, is Leonel Fernández. He is the one who throws the stone and hides the hand. (For the moment) In this case it is using one of its bishops. Soon move he will move his pawns, his horses and his towers to protect himself.

As it relates to, I don't retract what I wrote and said.

On the contrary, I repeat it and repeat it more strongly in the media where it is still possible.

They will have to imprison or kill me!

They have bullhorns, police, prosecutors, judges and all the money that the corruption and the debasement of all the institutions of the State, but they do not have the dignity or the decorum of the Dominican people that still holds its reserves.

When that money has bought the absolute silence of the day and night, of men and women, something I consider to be impossible, I walk with a megaphone shouting my truth and denouncing corruption and prevarication, as do Christians with "the word of the Lord".

The lawyers hired to deal with "the boys" in United States are incriminating to the plaintiff and acquit the defendants who do not have the money to pay for a costly lawsuit.

I also do not have the money. But here it is not the same as over there.

Here I will not want for lawyers. I already have over a hundred at my disposal.

...And I have, as if it were little, the main and most powerful advocate: The People who know that what I said is true.

All the simple and humble people know what I know. And repeats it every day in their homes, in the streets, in their centers of works.

The poverty of these people is the result of the theft of their wealth throughout the State.

I've said it many times: everyone who enters the government poor and comes out rich, is a thief, no matter what their name is, or which position they occupied in the State apparatus, or the party they come from.

I've said it many times: The entire island needs a bloody revolution, or it's doomed. NO HOPE.

Why a revolution, a bunch of poor slobs who want what those who have already enriched themselves have gained by what ever means.
Less government in general, social Work programs for those who can't get by. Damn little in the way of free lunches. Must be something for people to do but drink rum, play BOOM boxes and dominos. Till up some government land, assign plots for growing food, let citizens watch and military to guard those plots. There are places in every area just growing weeds now. Get whiners to do some stoop labor and grubbing in the dirt raising their own food and a lot of 'paid work' will start to look more attractive. Some telephone work for the disabled. I am waiting near 2 months for a forestry permit to cut dead trees, no calls, no inspections, 6 people 'employed' in the provincial office. One tree has been cut down and stolen in this time.

DomRat, I agree with you. But, how can it all be implemented without some form of revolution? The problem of this island (both sides) is that we have crooks in all economic levels. Basically, we can't trust anyone with any form of responsibilities. While we have Pierre and Pedro as the most honorable citizens, we also have Jean, Marie, Juan, Maria who are always a few steps away to corrupt and disrupt.

Therefore, a revolution is needed. Consequently, the island would be at the total control of some international governing bodies for the next 200 years, at least. That would help eradicate all current and future Felix Bautista's.

We should let go of the pride thing for a moment to end the agony. (Proud to be Haitian. Proud to be Dominican. My foot!) Obviously, it's not working as the island population is suffering far too long. Before it's too late, we must go to a total new direction to be proud about for the island to have the chance that it desperately needs.
