Dominican Republic leader talks oil in Venezuela

Caracas, (agencies).- Dominican Republic president DaniloMedina will arrive in Venezuela today, to attend the Petrocaribe oil summit.

The meeting of ministers of Petrocaribe countries heldTuesday will seek a relationship beyond crude, said Venezuela’s petroleum ministerRafael Ramírez on Monday.

"That the offer of compensation can be increased? Ofcourse! That’s what we want and that’s basically the purpose of this meeting ofthe Petrocaribe area: use all that (oil) billing to receive goods, especiallygoods," and at the same time for Venezuela to export not just crude andderivatives, said Ramirez in a press conference.

The ministers of the energy area from the 18 Petrocaribe countriesof will gather in Caracas Tuesday morning and its conclusions will be submittedto the summit of ALBA-Petrocaribe leaders, slated for the afternoon, also inthe Venezuelan capital, the official said.

Petrocaribe is formed by Venezuela, Antigua and Barbuda,Bahamas, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua,Dominican Republic, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and theGrenadines and Suriname, while Guatemala announced it withdrew its request for membershipin November.
