Santo Domingo.- An electrical outage Friday morning left hundreds of commenters stranded in several stations of Santo Domingo’s subway, as confirmed by the deputy director  of the Transport Reform Office (Opret).

Leonel Carrasco said an electrical failure occurred when a 69,000 volt line located at the sector Puerto Isabela triggered the alarm which halts the trains.

"It was just a few minutes, and the service was restored," the official said by phone, quoted by elcaribe.com.do.

In the social networks commuters reported that the stoppage lasted around 30 minutes, in the north-to-south tracks.

Conserving Electricity

How can NYC Transit save electricity when it runs the largest fleet of subway cars in the world at all hours, 365 days a year? What steps has NYC Transit taken to reduce the cost of electrical energy for 468 subway stations as well as other facilities and infrastructure?

the choo choo is a good thing for santo domingo...... just look how easy it is to drive a car around today in santo domingo after the metro came into our lifes......

Nothing to worry about. Just remember that there's not one thing that's perfectly built and will never fail.

ALL transit systems around the World have had electrical or other fuel problems and delays.

Oh, poor Josie. Everyone picks on him. He is defenseless. You bullies leave this child alone. Children get complex's when they are bullied. Maybe that is why he is the way he is. It is the fault of all of you/us who pick on him.

"The bee is a busy soul,
He has no time for birth control.
Maybe in times like these,
There are so many Sons Of Bee's "

This fits Josie to a T. He is a "Son Of a Bee"!

Ciao

I like the way DT publishes this article .Stranded commuters at the stations only for half an hr as

confirmed by OPRET,outage lasted a few minutes ,what happened to those on board?they don't

count? nor do they tell the riding public the caused of failure of a brand new equipment,at ISABELA

S/S due to 69kv .Was it a power tranformer or a switch transfering current as it is called there Ckt?

This is only the beguining with light load. Thanks God there was no electrical fire that produces

those toxic fumes.

Josean ,thinks that all the thousands of METRO patrons are on the trains all at the same time as a 30 minute power failure ....no one else could have written that

Atabey,
reminds us;
"ALL transit systems around the World have had electrical or other fuel problems and delays."
Very true
It seems to me this Metro has been very reliable so far, especially considering where it is.

Good thing a small earth quake did not shake things or down pour to refresh the riders for that mother nature added attraction.

Joe,

This old punk (DK) is a walking human wreck, who can barely walk straight; I would describe him as a huge mouth in a decapitated, run down body. BTW this maricon is not Cuban as he claims, he must be Brit or something else.
