Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina met Wednesday with attorney Laura Acosta Lora and her uncle the investigative journalist Huchi Lora, to ask about the details and documents they’ve obtained on the scandal and litigation over beach lands at Bahia de las Aguilas (southwest).

The meeting called by the President in his National Palace office began around 10:30am, after which Acosta, daughter of the late Piki Lora, said she told Medina that the Dominican State is the absolute owner of those land and therefore the only thing which needs to be done, is annul the "fraudulent" titles of the area in the hands of dozens of people.

Piki Lora was head of the Cadastre Agency when the scandal broke in 1997, and is credited with uncovering the major land fraud case.

If this is truly the case the government should acquire the land back, prosecute the thieves and those government officials responsible for facilitating the fraud.

Now lest see how far this will go.. there has to be names and signature on these titles and all must of known that it was the wrong thing to do... It's a national park...

Or will the big broom of under the rug come out once again???

If it's government land, put those fraudulent title owner in jail.

And sell the freaking land to the developers, with the condition that they obey the ecological balance, of the area.

It would be hard for me and others to visit this faraway the place, if there are no hotels available.
