Santo Domingo.– Former president Hipolito Mejia Friday morning celebrated his 72nd birthday at his residence surrounded by relatives, friends and political leaders.
In a statement released by his press department, Mejia said that although he does not know the reasons for president Danilo Medina to make the decision on Bahia de las Aguilas, he considered it as a proper measure but called him not to falter in the pursuit of plans and projects for the development of the southern region.
"The project of olive groves in Oviedo was abandoned, with an investment of over two hundred million, and the pipes were stolen, poverty remains the same. That's the most beautiful place in the Caribbean and we cannot allow that," he pointed out.

Well, well, well....now that is interesting........Hippo is taking a picture with Karim Abu Naba.
This just shows the quality of people he surrounds himself with.
I personally knew a close friend of Hippolito from his home town. In fact to be more specific, I use to work for him. He was my boss. The guy once owned an export company and I was a member of the management team. Often times I accompanied him to Home Depot to buy supplies for personal or business use. One day he shocked me. At a moments impulse, he had this urge to put a few things in his pocket and walked right out without paying. He did it repeatedly, a real klepto who simply could not help himself. Although, the value was insignificant, nickels and dimes, the thought of him taking stuff turned my stomach yet this guy was rich.
This very same person was often seen back in the DR rubbing elbows with Hippolito and his klan but in the end he was nothing more then a petty thief. My advice, be wary of the company you kee
