Santo Domingo.- National Anticorruption Dept. (DPCA) director Hotoniel Bonilla has resigned from the post in a letter to president Danilo Medina, it was learned Monday night.

Listin.com.do reports that Bonilla sent the missive on January 29, via Executive Branch Legal adviser Cesar Pina, and his resignation takes effect the 27th of this month.

The head of the Justice Ministry’s anticorruption Dept. has made few public appearances since August 16, when Justice minister Francisco Dominguez arrived at the post. Bonilla has headed the DPCA since 2009, appointed by then president Leonel Fernandez.

Bonilla’s fall from grace came after he sought to halt the investigation into alleged embezzlement by senator Felix Bautista, a close collaborator of Fernandez, which prompted Dominguez, within weeks of assuming his post, to ask the Supreme Court to reactivate the probe.

he did not resign. it was an either/or offer by Danilo. either you leave, or you get the axe.

Suspect this guy is walking under some cloud and the details of the reason(s) why he resigned will ultimately become part of a future media feeding frenzy.

yes Zomma ,,I agree. You may recall that ,under the previous administraion, he several times said it was impossible to get any evidence from people with ranks of colonel or higher , he could not bring forward the cases he wanted to becaue of a persons rank and complaianed about lack of power.
My feeling is that he simply may not have been suited to the very difficult job ,and that he and Danilo came to an arrangement..It will be interesting to see his replacement .

This is real reason this servile Narco PURPLE Punk quit, because the evidence is too overwhelming and he did nothing to investigate this corruption that even Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Jose Feliciano and the whole world could see but he could not!

Hear the next President of the Dominican Republic in his own words explaining the corruption schemes of Narco-Lie-onel Fernandez via FUNGLODE!

I would rather hear Moreno speak in court and having read the web site of this Moreno several times I doubt if he has more than a few dozen followers,

If you want to hear him in court tell your PURPLE Attorney General Fransico Dominguez Brito, who's obsessive love for Narco Lie-onel is only second to to yours, to accept this complaint and open an investigation.

Dr. Moreno would be more than happy to reserve a front row seat at the court for you!

Whether he has 1 follower or 1,000,000 is irrelevant what's relevant is following the rule of law!

I have nver met Senor Brito , to the best of my knowledge but I suppose he is busy determining whether this Moreno man is a vexacious litigant , whether there is any or sufficient proof to support the accusations or whether the expense is justified. As far as I have been able to read in the papers. it is only Moreno who is trying to jerry up discontent amongst the rabble class . I have not seen any suuport from people of repute

"I have not seen any suuport from people of repute"

I the social circles you hang out with there are no people of repute they are money launders who have no vested interest in seeing justice done!

"trying to jerry up discontent amongst the rabble class"

That's what King George said about George Washington and the American revolutionaries!

Better to resign than to end up in jail for accomplice, and for cover up, of those thugs in the Fernandez administration, including the military.

That is a position that requires a lot of balls to execute, but it may mean the difference between anarchy, and a civilized society that we all want.

Let us all hope that the next one appointed has the authority, and the balls, to execute the investigation required.

If corruption is not put on a break, we are all going to pay the consequences of anarchy.

Jeeze, what a lose. Can this pillar of the establishmnet be replaced. I doubt it. All those years and budget monies and next to or no convictions. His predicessor will have trouble meeting that conviction benchmark.

He had a big (botella) in this position.

But, he is probably right his hands were tide by Leonel and his group of thugs.

Lets hope Danilo gets rid of some of those thugs that were left behind by Leonel.

If not we are back to square one.

Saint Danilo needs to get rid of the Master THUG Narco Lie-onel first then he will have real credibility!
