Santo Domingo.- A band of assassins comprised of police and military executed Alexander Acosta (Alex), 35, on Lincoln Av. Friday, and could be the first evidence of a major case of drug trafficking and organized crime.

The shooting is believed to be linked to a major case based on the large amount of money paid and found at the scene and the fact that the driver of the shooter’s escape motorcycle was paid 7,500 euros (RD$418,350), according to police

The authorities meanwhile found RD$196,000 in cash the victim’s pockets and three European Union passports in his vehicle.

The sailor Luis Hector Méndez (Rubio El Marino) is the person police call the murder’s mastermind and who allegedly hired three hitmen to kill Acosta.

Allegedly, "Rubio El Marino" paid a large sum of money to police agent José Leonel Rodriguez, apprehended yesterday, and that Diomaris Ramon Encarnacion and Jordan Garcia Contreras were on the bike from where the shots were fired.

Investigators say Encarnacion, the alleged shooter fled the country aboard Spirit airline Flight 142 to New York on Saturday.

Quoted by eldia.com.do, the Police said Rodriguez  was posted near the crime scene to "resolve any issues that came up during the execution."

Scary stuff…
I hope the government has some sort of plan to purify the National Police & Republican Guard. We can’t continue to live in fear of the police and military. These officers involved in organized crime should be summarily executed as the traitors that they are, maybe they will serve as an example.

How bad is it when the Sinaloa cartel moves to RD because it's easier to buy, manufacture and distribute drugs here, than it is in Mexico? And probably Guzman is hiding here too.

I must be having a bad morning ,,I can not follow this story . It says that Rubio el Marinowas the mastermind who hired three hit men to kill Alex Acosta and yet it says that the police and military killed Alex Acosta,The police were Encemacion who is now in NY,Contreras ,who has disapeared and the third policeman, who was Rodriguez is now in prison with the cash and the passports ..
So how was Rodriguez caught ,how come the real police were so quick to be on the scene to pull out money and passports from the body .
I think there is much more to this story

"This story does not make sense....."

I agree, we get a lot of that on DT. Many of the stories are ambiguous, vague, lack clarity and little on specifics. I guess it must be something to do with perhaps space and the available resources at hand to enable them to be more explicit in their reporting.

But must remember most of what we read is regurgitated and then translated. Therefore, a lot is lost in between and the final results are obvious. I guess we have to make the best of what we got. Neverthless, we do eventually get all of the information in bits and pieces.

A damn good reason to not have all the guns in the hands of the police. Let us keep our decent citizens able to obtain a firearm permit without too much expense and delay. I am all for checks but we need balances.

DomRat,
If the "decency" of police officers cannot be determined, please advise - how can the decency of gun-loving citizens be determined, "without too much expense and delay" before issuing them with their lethal toys, status-symbols and penis-replacements?

Guillermone....No guns, no triggers to pull. Guns are killing weapons and they are used to kill.

And when you walk around with one tucked into your pant waist, you're looking to use it.
And WHEN you're drunk...............

Look at the mayor of Cabarete, pulling his gun from his waist, shooting at, and hitting several times, a vehicle from a hotel that he felt went by too close to his parked Jeepeta. People who were standing on the sidewalk, that he was talking to, had to stop him from shooting more. And on, and on.

Guns do not kill people. People kill people. If they do not have access to a gun, they can choose one of many knives in any kitchen on the planet. Or, use their son's baseball bat, piece of wire, their hands, a rock and the list goes on and on. Oh yes, I forgot to add poison that can be purchased over the counter at your local stores.

If there is a will -- they will find the way. A gun is a selection of convenience. Nothing more!

Tomas.

In the USA, we cite the 2nd amendment. Right to carry arms. When the govenment violate's our "rights", we ignore ther "demands". I am a strong advocate of the NRA. "Criminals" don't register "their" guns. The government has no knowledge of what they have. And no law-breaking citizen will abide to throw down their weapons.
They don't go to WalMart or a Gun dealer listed in your local telephone book. I for one, want to be on a level playing field. Someone who is foolish or stupid enough to enter my abode in the middle of the night through a window, won't have to worry about how he will exit. I sleep with my friend who goes by the name of 44 magnum.

Lets face it, anyone involved in drug trafficking and organized crime, are more susceptible to getting shot.. Choose carefully the company you keep.

Ciao

A$$hole CharlieNYC,

I chose to live with Dominicans in Bushwick, Brooklyn because it's a great family community, as is Washington Heights, and I'm not Dominican.
It's Bed-Stuy and areas of the Bronx that are dirty and crime cridden, where you don't want to live in NYC.

Agree 100%

Any military or police member that is caught, in drug trafficking, or murder like the one, should be hanged and put on a lighting post.

So many guns in the hands of the wrong people. That there is our main problem.

Disarm all those thugs, and put more control mechanism in the police and the military.

The primary function of the military is to protect and serve, supposedly. Who is it they protect first, we know damn well they serve their/our political masters. Let us have some guns in private hands much like the various countries of the world keep political power split up into judicial, legislative, and executive or variation of this. So we see the Police, the Military and the Civilian all having some say in the matter.
If you as a retiree are in a discussion with a soccer player and a street tigre, what is your opinion really worth? That's right - you need some might - as an old phart it may be connections and wealth, or it may be neither of those in which case you vote doesn't count for much. If however you have your nephew the kick boxer with you your views will be given a prompt and weighted value. Keep the civilians well armed.

Roy, the heading - police-military hit squad pretty much sums it up. If the police and the military cannot always be counted on, and they cannot even if comprised of saints. As yet they cannot be sent out to materialize like a signal received at a cell phone. There will be the occasional error - as there are in hospitals, boating, skiing, or riding a horse - all potentially fatal; such is life - we are all destined to die from the drawing of our first breath. I would rather die sayiing ah ha than aw shit.
If you are in trouble the very uncertainty of thugs or even police and military of who is carrying a gun and as an excellent adjunct a cell phone with a camera - capable of sending a photo to cloud, face book or where ever.

@ charlienyc,

I'm sorry to hear my compatriots are f*@#in& up your world. You know what? ....
If your compatriots hadn't interfered with our revolution of 1965 from US backed despots and retarded our social- political developement as well opened us up for exploitation of our resources and labor by multi-national corps which sent hundreds of thousands of our people worldwide in search of a better life, (especially to NYC), we would have stayed at home.

But NOOOOO. Your gov't f*@#ed with us in our land now we are f*@#in& in yours.
I think you have an English saying for this , something about chickens coming home to roost?
And numbnuts, I dare say many of us have been excellent citizens and contributers to our adopted country. Where do your people hail from that you feel this is your country? My parents have been here for 50 yrs.

Very well said.

My father and many of his friends migrated to NYC back in 1967, right after the war.

Looking for a better life for my mother, my sisters and me.

Although I now live in DR, I lived in NY and Miami for 40 years.

Therefore, this saying has a lot more meaning for me now:

GRINGO, MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS !!!!
