Santo Domingo.- Barrick Gold Pueblo Viejo Corp. on Friday affirmed that "everything was cleared up” after several of its executives concluded “a very cordial” meeting with Customs Agency officials, just two days after the unprecedented retention of a doré shipment to Canada.

Barrick Gold government affairs manager Mexico Angeles said Customs requested information, which he affirms the miner is willing to provide.

Customs director Fernando Fernandez headed the one-hour meeting in also attended by Barrick legal adviser Juana Barceló and Felix Caraballo, president of Alfamar Security Service, which transports the doré (gold mixed with silver).

The Dominican government ain't going to stay just watching while Barrick Gold take all the gold without any reimbursement..
It's just a matter of time..

I must've missed something here....I don't see anywhere in the story that the situation has been resolved and shipment of the meinerals has been allowed to proceed. What I read is that everything has been sort of cleared up and that there is now an understanding of the information BG needs to provide, which they are willing to comply with. So the information needs to be received, reviewed and then a final decision rendered.

So don't be so quick on assuming that Customs and President Danilo have thrown in the towel.

Now, we must be getting ready for round 2-whatever that might be.

There are 2 different things there that people didn't realize:

1.- Where is Victor manuel Rocha, the cocky peruvian president of pueblo viejo mine ?

2.-The reason why they were stopped was that they didn't want to reveal exactly the amount of gold in that transaction, because based on that is what they need to pay to the Dominican state..

They didn't want to provide the seals nor the proper documentation..

The think we are all indians..

As glomar said before, be ready for the second round..whatever it will be..

Victor Manuel Rocha "the cocky Peruvian President of Pueblo Viejo Mine"

Watch out for this guy he might think he is doing business back home in Peru.

I still say we better watch out for this crooks having helicopters at their disposal.Las Americas is

not the only international airport in the island . We are surrounded by water and a real shippment

could occur without the gvt officials knowing it.We have been destracted with the custom official,

while the real operation could take place else where, they are good at those tactics. If they could

fool the Germans in WW2 as to where the invasion would take place in France ,they could surely

fool us.

Again, this guy Rocha is so dirty, that he cannot even stand the stench on his own garment (clothes/rags).

Ingles23 is making reference to what and who pig Rocha represents.

In other words, the smell that comes to be near a pigsty.

People in management in those type of industries are just that.

Pigs.

If this gold gets shipped out, many of us here will be disappointed.

Still hoping our gvt steps in, and ban all gold exports until this mess is sorted out and resolved!

Medina, don't let them screw us out of our rightful share. Please.

The government was just sending a message to Barrick gold, that they need an "agreeable" partner, to CONTINUE doing business in DR, and gone are the "days of lore".
Danilo Medina's government does not take orders from anyone, no matter who they are. So Barrick better be very clear that they have to follow the law and the rules, exactly as written, but of course this doesn't imply, that if the present status quo persists, Barrick gold is going to have a "cakewalk" to continue to export their "doré", as they had before.
