Santo Domingo.-  Ecuador president Rafael Correa on Sunday  said his Government would help renegotiate contracts with multinational companies, when reporters asked about the Dominican government’s talks with Barrick Gold Corp. aimed at renegotiating the agreement for the mine at Pueblo Viejo

The Ecuadorian president arrived in the country at Las Americas Airport yesterday to attend tonight’s opening of the 16th annual Santo Domingo International Book Fair.

Correa said he will discuss the issue in a meeting with president Danilo Medina today and would share Ecuador’s similar experiences with oil companies.

"This is a delicate thing that has to do with the country’s internal affairs. It’s also a global issue, especially in developing countries, regarding the abuses of transnational corporations and how they extract natural resources," he said.

The leader of Ecuador is the new "Chavez".
Running his mouth with rhetoric and whipping up the masses.
So far, his actions against Occidental and Chevron look impressive.
However, the world court in the Hague is getting ready to reverse the court decision and obligate the country to pay back the almost 20 billion it owes.
His idiot response...."It will bankrupt our country."
Meaning....."Me and my cronies are filthy rich now".

Another SLAP in the Face of Narco Lie-onel, the intellectual Author of the Treasonous Barrick “Stold” Contract which Saint Danilo has Called UNACCEPTABLE on February 27, 2013!

It appears, to IDIOT IRAS Atabey Horror, that Saint Danilo is MOVING AWAY from the DISATEROUS Neo-Liberal Policies that have Punished the Dominican People During the PLD’s 3 Corrupt administrations!

President Correa who is a trained economist from the University of Illinois has been the most ardent critic of the Neo Liberal Policies that have made the Rich, Richer and the Poor Poorer, especially in Latin America.

The Fact the Dominican Republic’s Book Fair is Dedicated to Ecuador and President Correa is Premiering His Book there “Ecuador: de Banana Republic a la no Republica” (a SCATHING rejection of Neo-Liberal Economics as a way to fair and equitable distribution of national resources and opportunities) IS A CLEAR SIGNAL of the DIVISION in the PLD hierarchy between the Lie-onelistas and Danilistas over the correct development model for DR.

I guess Saint Danilo has found out that he needs “TO CHANGE WHAT IS WRONG” as he said in his Campaign Slogan!

Saint Danilo should take his recommendations into serious consideration!

Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado (born 6 April 1963) is the President of the Republic of Ecuador and the former president pro tempore of the Union of South American Nations. An economist educated in Ecuador, Belgium and the United States, he was elected President in late 2006 and took office in January 2007.

In December 2008, he declared Ecuador's national debt illegitimate, based on the argument that it was odious debt contracted by corrupt and despotic prior regimes. He announced that the country would default on over $3 billion worth of bonds; he then pledged to fight creditors in international courts and succeeded in reducing the price of outstanding bonds by more than 60%. He brought Ecuador into the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas in June 2009. TO DATE, CORREA’S ADMINISTRATION HAS SUCCEEDED IN REDUCING THE HIGH LEVELS OF POVERTY, INDIGENCE, AND UNEMPLOYMENT IN ECUADOR.

In September 2012 an independent survey found that he has 80% of approval rate among Ecuadorians, significantly the highest rate in the Americas.

Living large in Costa Rica

By Paige R. Penland, Special to CNN
January 17, 2013

(CNN) -- Not so long ago, Costa Rica was a backpacker's game.

Other than a few business-class hotels in the capital of San José and a handful of isolated luxury properties scattered about the scenic hinterlands, travelers could expect little in the way of genuine comfort while exploring one of the most beautiful and eco-conscious countries on the planet.
Over the past decade, however, Costa Rica's fastest-growing crop has been a collection of opulent hotels and resort communities, complemented by marinas, golf courses, gourmet restaurants, hot springs and other world-class facilities."

Costa Rica is a far better country to emulate, Josea Cat.

"Costa Rica is the greenest and happiest country in the world, according to a new list that ranks nations by combining measures of their ecological footprint with the happiness of their citizens.

“Costa Ricans report the highest life satisfaction in the world and have the second-highest average life expectancy of the new world (second to Canada),” the organization said in a statement.

Costa Ricans top the list because they report the highest life satisfaction in the world, they live slightly longer than Americans, yet have an ecological footprint that is less than a quarter the size. The country only narrowly fails to achieve the goal of what NEF calls "one-planet living": consuming its fair share of the Earth's natural resources."

And they have done so NOT going the Hyper-Locomotion route.

Compañero: Hasta La Victoria Siempre!!!!!!!

Barrick gold spend 16 years in Chile and exploited completely a gold mine and NEVER pay a dime. They left only their nasty pollution.
The plan is the same in DR.They havent pay a DIME TO DR YET
You call it extortion.I call it the right of the people for the own natural resources, and that money should be used for hospitals (they will fill up eventually), education, infrastructure, development projects, etc..

The resources of Dominican republic BELONGS to the people of Dominican republic.Period
