Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.- A spate of violent often drug-related crimes has rattled the resort town of Sosua, where some business owners have opted to shut their doors on fears of reprisal.

In the latest incident, a local political leader was shot dead after he denounced a drug-dealer’s business in Puerto Plata, and the victim’s 24-year-old son was seriously hurt in the assault.

Adalberto Pichardo Martinez, 55, a leader of the PRD party and head of Sosua’s Sanitation Dept., died from gunshots sustained Monday night.

Gunmen shot the victim after he denounced the dealer who’s allegedly protected by authorities.

The police arrested Juan Demo Riveras, who according the report, was caught while hiding in a cave next to the shore.

Fear in Cabarete

Two owners of surfing school at El Encuentro beach in nearby Cabarete were forced to abandon the area after being threatened by drug dealers, and in one case one of the facilities was torched and totally gutted.

One of the business owners, who asked not to reveal their name, said he shuttered his business on fears that the drug dealers would retaliate for denouncing their activity.

Time to fight fire with fire. Go after the supposed drug dealers and end this craziness. Shoot all the MFs and their families too ! If you get too much blowback from any POLITICO, shot his a$$ as well ! Case closed ! If this crap continues, it will take over the entire North Coast like any cancer. LT and Samana will follow the same fate. The only thing these Drug Dealers respect is FEAR and INTIMIDATION, ergo provide it for them. If you cannot or will not do the unspoken, then leave the region or the DR.

I once captured a big A$$ raccoon and tortured it for a couple of days by letting my pittbulls attack the cage. My raccoon problems and my neighbors went away for about 6yrs, then I had to trap another.

That BS in Sosua has been going on for years; names and faces change, but the operations and their true owners remain.

And Playa Encuentro: easier to score there than in Washington Heights.

I have noticed an increase in drug related news in recent years, unless the judicial branch works in combination with the authorities on the ground to catch and prosecute all these criminals and protect the integrity of the citizenry no changes will take place other than the country getting overrun by these thugs

13 = M

So if is the opposites, and this maladies didn't exist before.

So which one of the subjects complement the other. Wherever there's tourisms this problems arises. With or without poverty, there's more that tourist demand than a room and three meals not to mention the ocean view.

Perhaps it is call "Entretaintment". Hotels pay shitty wages, inflation follows and the locals only options its to serve what is left.

Sociology 101.

Agreed Danilo, our country has been in the hands of unpatriotic scorn for years.
Our nation needs new faces and a new political parties, to represent us.

The future DR is not going to be Mexico, it'll be Jamaica. A little island with some touristy spots and nothing else for the general population but high crime, drug trade and no future. As for who's responsible, let's be honest and objective; the PRD opened the doors wide open, the PLD offered them the bedroom. It's a long tortorious process to get this business out of your country once you let it in. And let it in we did. The question is does the country and its leaders have the stomach and morals to do what needs to be done?

rokiki, I like this forum, it keeps me up-to-date! I wanna be sure I do not miss the special event when you will be hagging those guys, by their you know what, on the coconut trees! Just let us know when you've planted enough coconut trees! It's OK rokiki, you are in your own private world with Trujilo and your torched arse donkey!!! Keep up the good work, hope it will decrease the ongoing endemic drug trafficking crisis!!!! You are a champion who has no idea about the real world, if Trujilo ever come back alive you will definitely be in vogue! rokiki, how dare you to say the country is full of bad people! Be carefull when bashing your civilized european culture!

When I said bad people,

I meant you, and the Haitian mokeys you call, hermanitos.

Nothing is impossible, we can get this country backn in control.

Where there is a will, there is a way !!!!

If we emulate Trujillo, there will be a problem solved !!

Agree, all the bad people in the DR are Haitianos, for example the new disclosed killers-for-hire gangs, all the drug traffickers! You can go back to sleep now, the country is back in control! OK? I saw Trujilo in front of el monumento and you have a good way! Except you lack the will, but its OK, just grow some B@lls! By the way, make sure you have enough bananas to feed all those monkeys!!! Today is lucky day, I am in the mind reading business, so I know what you mean. No need to remind of what you mean to say!!! OK rokiki?? How is your donkey or you've switch to monkey business?

The Haitiano Jambombolo is working on a fence, to build on the border.

He want's to be the only Haitiano on this side of the island.

The rest of the caricatures, can go eat bananas and do a monkey's business.

Without dropping a single plastic shit bag on the Massacre river.

That would be a miracle !!!
