John Jay College welcomes UASD law students

Santo Domingo.– John Jay College, alongwith city and state representatives, will host a welcome ceremony for 11 lawschool students from the Santo Domingo State University (UASD) who will take part in an intensive two-week course on theU.S. criminal justice system.

The group is being hosted jointly by JohnJay’s Department of Latin American and Latina/o Studies and the CUNY School ofLaw.

Along with seminars at John Jay, thevisiting students will gain firsthand experience with the U.S. legal system byvisiting courtrooms and witnessing actual criminal trials.

For several years,the UASD has hosted John Jay students as part of a study abroad program. Thisvisit marks a new stage in the partnership between John Jay and UASD, theoldest university in the Western Hemisphere.

Establishedin 1964, John Jay College of Criminal Justice of The City University of NewYork is an international leader in educating for justice. It offers a richliberal arts and professional studies curriculum to upwards of 15,000undergraduate and graduate students from more than 135 nations.
