Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic again asked Haiti to temporarily lift the ban on Dominicans poultry products, after it has been confirmed that there’s no bird flu, said a statement released in Santo Domingo on Thursday.

The Dominican Embassy said there’s no valid argument to continue the ban on poultry products Dominicans, as it has proven that there is no bird flu in Dominican Republic, "a situation acknowledged by Haitian authorities and international organizations."

Haiti banned imports of live birds, poultry meat and eggs from Dominican Republic on June 6 claiming concerns over the entry of the virus, even when no outbreaks have been reported in the last three years.

One week later, the Haitian government acknowledged that the flu virus affecting Dominican Republic is H1N1 and not the H5N1 (bird flu), but didn’t lift the ban and instead sent a mission to Santo Domingo for talks with the Dominican officials.

"Given the information published in the media stating that the Haitian authorities have decided to lift the ban on meat products from the Dominican Republic, we should clarify that that ban had occurred prior to the ban on poultry products," said the statement released on Wednesday in Port au Prince.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The Haitian government will take the initiative to shut down the bilateral market until an agreement is reached. This is an opportunity that should not be missed to reshuffle the cards. The Haitian government is under a lot of pressure to enact trade regulations, promote economic growth, create jobs and generate revenue. Haiti is working on trade regulation laws that will prohibit anti-competitive acts that are unfair, fraudulent, and deceptive. This is a win-win situation for Haiti, because very limited Haitian goods are allowed to enter into the DR and they are severely taxed. The Haitian export to the DR is estimated to be less than 75 million dollars, but the DR export to Haiti, formal and informal, is estimated to be close to 4.7 billion dollars annually. I think the Haitian government should put a ban on all building materials coming from the DR because of very poor quality.

Listin Diario today says:

"There are 214 000 Haitians in DR who work in trade, construction, domestic service, and agriculture, useful to the country, which produce USD $ 1.489 million per year in remittances, and send USD $ 745 million, to Haiti, more than all the US aid and the European Union".

"President Medina, do not announce any "drastic measures", forget about the threats that no one will believe, just order the Labor Minister that any foreigner who works must pay taxes, and have ID cards, immediately fining companies that do not comply and giving a period of six months for the rest, the million eight hundred thousand other illegals to register in immigration".

Case solved.

I have stated in the past when greed prevails over common and basic human dignity, potentialy, the proverbial poop can or will hit the fan with no predictable outcome. We are now enjoying, all at once, the benefits of past inconsiderate greeds going back as far as colonialism.
Now, the Monday morning quaterbacks are scrambling to design their playbooks. Oh, sweet lord, Hipañola yearn for your brethenly warm embrace. Why have you forsaken those poor black Haitianos and very light skin Dominicanos who from time to time would projectily vomit at the slight presence of the devilish Haitianos. Haitianos please enjoy and savor the very extremely light skins european Dominicans kakasalami and flu ridden eggs and pollos. Yes, I understand put all those Haitianos on the backs of that burnt arse donkey accross the massacre river. DR doesn't need Haitianos $3B+ USD. DR rules the world and DR will kill all Haitianos in sight a la Trujilo. Quaterbacks good luck redesigning your virus playbooks!!

Let’s be real and stop the foolishness! Haitians are Dominicans have a bond so strong that I am sure what it will take to break it. A lot of Dominicans have Haitians in their families and vice versa. I have several Dominican nephews and nieces whose mother is from Puerto Plata. She resides and owns several restaurants and beauty salons in Haiti. We are hiding our identities and bad mouthing each other on this board when your Dominican and Haitian love ones are in the next room living under the same roof. I understand a lot of Dominicans hate Haitians because too many of them settled illegally in their country, there is not much you and I can do about human migration and the solution is not going to be found on this board. As long as persecution, natural disasters, manmade disasters, famines, wars, unhappiness, dissatisfaction, love, hatred etc. exist, mankind will always be on the move. Ask yourself these questions: Where am I? What am I doing here? Why did I come here?

Those 3 billion have come with 4billion Haitian string attache. d. Its not worth it. Cut ur losses
, and let the Haitian fester in there history. Cause that's all they have to moan about. That all of Latin America belongs to Haiti. America has proven that no matter what you do, in the.case of dark skin vs light skin, the dark skinned forever harbor resentment toward there lighter skinned counter part who've received preferential treatment no matter were thou go.

Like I've said before, cheap haitian labor is holding us back. it stops us from focusing on long-term benefits of investing in efficient machines that produce higher quality goods. In other words, we can hire a haitian to catch us a bird or we can invest in a riffle and kill 10.

That's why our goods can't compete in the international market, cause sean paul is trying to stuff as many tomatoes in his basket as he can.

Only modern machines will move us fwd.

Because the English language sounds weak, it's not as passionate as Spanish. Just read it out loud... oh right, I forgot, you sound like a little girl in either language.
