Dajabon, Dominican Republic.- Tension surged Friday in the shuttered border gate on the Masacre River bridge, where Haitian guards wielding batons halted merchants from their country trying to reach Dominican Republic’s binational market.

While at the other side in Ouanaminthe Haitians are stripped of even some small amounts of purchased goods as they cross the river which divides the two nations that share Hispaniola. Some arrests and harassment by police against their compatriots have also been reported.

Some groups have torched tires at Ouanaminthe, chanting that the “people have the right to eat,” while Dajabón merchants wait for their Haiti counterparts to cross the border.

The protest takes place despite a visit by a commission of Dajabón merchants to the Haitian side Thursday to convince the Haitians to take part in the market held Fridays and Mondays.

This has been Haiti's sad story ever since 1804. They are beaten to submission by the Ton Ton macoutes, now under another name.
I would love to have a video of this abuse of human rights.

It is all misinformation, and nazi style propaganda tactics, used by the Afrocentric crowd, now yielding much political power in the USA.
Our diaspora is influenced by persons like Junot Diaz, Pulitzer prize winner, but yet out of touch with the in situ realities, that affect the island.

the haitian politicians do not give a flying F&%^ about the haitian people. the ones that sufferr the most these arbitrary and unbased prohibition even though an international organization confirmed the absence of avian flu is just ridiculous, and one must think if there are some ulterior motives in this action.
The thing is that haitian politicias are quick to threaten Dominicans, that if "human rights of haitians are violated they would complaint with the international community".

Haitians dont need Dominicans to miss treat them, they have their own politicians to do so... and that is why haiti is the way it is and it will never change.

and where is CNN etc on this?!?!? not important to their agenda, so it gets ignored.

Dominicans like doing business in a very informal way. No oversight, no accountability, no quality control, no following standards, nada. Poor Haitians don't ask questions. They see with their eyes and eat what they can afford and put seasoning and peekleez hot pepper sauce (I hope that I spelled that right) on everything to satisfy their taste. A marriage.

Flash BREAKING NEWS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

PAY Back to the Professor for that Afro-centric crack this morning:

Obama nominates a gay human rights activist as in ambassador to the Dominican Republic!

WASHINGTON–President Barack on Friday tapped one of his top fund-raisers, Chicagoan James “Wally” Brewster to be the new ambassador to the Dominican Republic.

Brewster is a National LGBT Co-Chair for the Democratic National Committee and is on the Board of the Human Rights Campaign fund.

Brewster was one of Obama’s very top “bundlers” during the 2012 re-election campaign, using his own networks to raise donations from other contributors for the Obama/Biden ticket.

General, if that were possible that would be great, more likely a win-win situation for both D.R. and Haiti. I am sure he will take responsibilities for Haiti and to a greater extent Haiti will become more viable and not stressing such much their neighbors. You know, the invisible hand that is killing D.R. good performance, rubbing our resources away and causing displacement and outrages. With that said; Haiti Gov. and Elite is our worst enemy.

Perhaps, you may see the difference now. When we ask, Who lets the dogs out ? we do not have to hear : Dominicans Very Bad Boys ... Big Times Racists, Haitian Prejudices, etc, etc, etc.

Felix is not any worse than others business men, they have a heart for business not for caritative matters. LOL.

Funny how all of a sudden the haitian government can stop illegal border crossings.
Pres. Danilo should realize the duplicitous nature of the haitian leaders and halt cooperating with them on any project. Just start massive deportations of illegals. Balaguer knew how to deal with them. Had he been alive and in power today, that is how he would have handled this intentional destabilizing plot by haiti. Deport the haitian poultry workers first.

Martelly knew of the planned poultry ban the day of Danilo's visit to haiti and said nothing.

Let me know what immigation policy in the US that should be applicable to DR. Short list!
1. Wall
2. BC
3. Citizenchip by birth
4. Skin hue
5. Chicken wings
6. Boil eggs
7. DR should be able to pick and choose

Btw, on friday I started a construction project with a group of dominicans and I gotta say that quality-wise it is top notch compared to haitian workers. They are 20% more expensive, but it is well worth it. A few friends recommended them and now I see why.

People are so focused on cheap labor that they forget what's really important, quality. Maybe if we started hiring dominicans to produce our goods we would be able to compete with international products.
