Santo Domingo.- Although the 2016 general elections are still nearly three years away, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) \works on the final touches to the plan until May 15, 2016, the last polls in which all elected officials will be chosen on the same day.
JCE president Roberto Rosario revealed that the plan includes the possibility of internet voting on a specific jurisdiction as a pilot project and a mechanism which verifies a voter’s fingerprints when they cast their ballot."
"So since there are people who claim they buy votes ... the idea is to create a strong bond so the fingerprint plays an important role,” in the master registry.
Rosario said on election day, the JCE will have the fingerprints of all registered voters because it will make it easier to issue the new ID. "When we deliver 7 million ballots, we will have the prints of 7 million citizens and they’ll all be on file."
