Venezuelan, 2 Dominicans nabbed in 1,060K cocaine bust

Santo Domingo.- Antinarcotics agents (DNCD) on Friday apprehended a Venezuelan and two Dominicans linked to 1,060 kilos of cocaine seized in November during an operation in the capital’s upscale sector Mirador Sur.

The Venezuelan, Nicolás Argenis Martínez, is the alleged head of an international drug trafficking network which tried to smuggle the cocaine at the coast of Punta Salina, Bani (south).

He and two local men were arrested in a Toyota pickup truck on a warrant issued by a Peravia Province judge, the DNCD said in a statement. It said it’s up to the Justice Ministry to identify the two Dominicans.

The agents seized cash, jewelry, an empty magazine for M-16 rifle, cell phones, a machine to identify cash, and documents from the detainees during a search of the Venezuelan’s residence at Paraíso del Caribe.
