Santo Domingo.– A fugitive wanted by U.S. authorities for a multimillion dollar cellphone fraud was arrested by Spanish police.

According to a Spanish Interior Ministry statement, Juegers Veloz, 37, belonged to a criminal network that allegedly stole phone account information and used it to make fraudulent calls worldwide.

Veloz, who was listed among the most wanted by the U.S. Secret Service, was arrested in a call center on the Balearic island of Mallorca.

The fraud, which cost legitimate phone owners US$17 million and netted the perpetrators more than US$250 million, occurred between 2009 and September 2011 in and around New York.
