Dominican Republic isn’t racist, leader tells neighbors

Havana.- In response to criticism by the Caribbean Community’s (Caricom) member countries against the Constitutional Court ruling on criteria for nationality, president Danilo Medina on Tuesday defended Dominican Republic’s sovereignty.

He stressed that he doesn’t accept the accusation that the ruling is racist, discriminatory and that it violates human rights.

Medina’s statement come during his participation in the 2nd Summit of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Cuba, attended by several heads of State of the region.

Quoting a source, outlet listin.com.do reports that during the event Caricom tried to get the CELAC to issue a resolution condemning Dominican Republic for the court ruling.
