Tropical storm could bring needed rain to Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The National Weather Office (Onamet) issued alerts from Dominican Republic’s easternmost point to the central Atlantic coast Sunday night, as Tropical Storm Gonzalo formed east of the Lesser Antilles yesterday afternoon.

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) issued alerts for potential flash flooding for eastern and northeastern provinces prone to mudslides.

The alert issued 10pm covers Cabo Engaño to Cabo Frances Viejo on potential rains, and could ease the drought parching most of the country.
