Dominican Republic gets hospital ready to treat ebola

Santo Domingo.- In the coming days a Dominican hospital will be equipped to treat any patients infected with the ebola virus, as part of the government’s actions to deal with a the disease’s possible entry into this country.

Public Health minister Altagracia Guzman, who didn’t specify which hospital, will announce the scope of this and other measures on Tuesday, to be put in place to keep the deadly disease from reaching Dominican soil.

President Danilo Medina headed a high-level meeting Monday afternoon with financial, health and immigration sector officials, to discuss the emergency measures the Dominican Republic will take to address the issue of the deadly virus.

The meeting included the ministers of Defense, Health, and of Finance, as well as the heads of Emergency Ops, and other agencies.

The Civil Aviation and Airports departments were allocated immediate access to the funds needed to implement the plan.
