CNDH welcomes sentence of Inter-American Court of Human Rights

Santo Domingo.– The National Commission for Human Rights (CNDH) considered as fair the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) ruling against the Dominican State.

The IACHR ruling states that the rights of Haitians and Dominicans of Haitian descent –deported between 1999 and 2000– were violated. The National Commission for Human Rights (CNDH) urged the authorities to "not hear the voices of alleged ‘nationalists’ who call for the departure of the international system of human rights protection."

The CNDH pointed out that as an institution that defends and promotes the fundamental rights of the Dominican people and human beings, it has always denounced the situation of vulnerability and poverty Haitians and Haitian descents face in the country.
