Electricity sector ‘discredited’ despite major investments: Top official

Santo Domingo. – Government Purchasing Dept. director Yocasta Guzman on Wednesday said Dominican Republic’s electricity sector is discredited because despite major investments invested the population has yet to see a lower light bill.

“That’s why the population questions when it sees all the statements made on energy without any progress,” the official said.

In another topic, Guzman stressed the importance of product development, an stated her satisfaction with government suppliers.

Interviewed on Channel 36, the official said the Purchasing Dept. has registered nearly 26,000 suppliers over the last 10 years and “I’m quite pleased with them.”
