32,000 first responders to guarantee a ‘Safe Christmas’

Santo Domingo.- The National Emergency Commission (COE) director Juan Manuel Méndez on Wednesday announced ‘Operation Safe Christmas 2014- 2015’ with some 32,455 from the various first response agencies who ensure safety during the holidays.

He said the plan starts 2pm next Tuesday and includes 1,500 aid stations placed at critical points across the country, with 126 ambulances, three helicopters, four tow trucks and crews on the roads managed by nine regional command posts.

As part of the security measures the Public Works Ministry’s Land Transport Dept. announced the ban heavy vehicles on all roads starting 10pm Wednesday, Dec. 24, to 12 am Thursday, Dec. 25.

The ban will again be in effect from 12am, December 31, to 10pm January 1.
