Dominican leader says Central America needs less talk, more action

Belize.- President Danilo Medina on Wednesday said the Central American Integration System needs more action and fewer statements to achieve benefits for its people and affirmed that his presence there is to promote concrete and effective measures.

"I am convinced that the SICA doesn’t need any more statements; but lacks more action instead. We need to use our political will to achieve a more efficient and effective functioning of our institutions," said the president of the Dominican Republic at the 44th annual SICA Summit

He also asked the SICA to congratulate the U.S. and Cuban governments for their decision to normalize relations.

Referring to the achievements of regional integration, Medina asked his peers: "What can we do to make our regional integration process more beneficial for the people?"

Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua form the SICA.
