Theft at Las Americas Airport leaves thousands without gifts

Santo Domingo.– At least 18 employees of Las Americas International Airport (AILA) are under probe by Police Investigators (DICRIM), due to a robbery worth millions of pesos at a warehouse of the Customs Agency, at the terminal, which left thousands without their Christmas gifts.

According to police reports, there were no security cameras in the area and there is no evidence of forced locks. The theft is believed to have occurred early Thursday.

Among the stolen goods are cell phones, laptops, watches, car radios, household appliances, plasma TV sets, apparel, clothing, shoes and other items that Customs had not yet verified.
