Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Francisco Domínguez and Vatican envoy Jude Thaddeus Okolo on Monday discussed child abuse cases attributed to his predecessor Jozef Wesolowski and the priest Wojciech Gil (Padre Alberto) in Juncalito, Santiago.

In a statement released after the meeting, the officials said the courts must do everything to seek the truth in each case and punishment if there’s evidence of the allegations.

Dominguez said Dominican investigators found serious criminal responsibility against the prelates, for which they should be punished.

The case files sent to Polish authorities include victims statements and testimony, the alleged victims’ psychological evaluations as well as various types of evidence with which Dominican Republic seeks prosecution.

Okolo said the Vatican’s priority in Wesolowski’s case is to seek the truth and that the Holy See’s criminal court is currently investigating the charges.

Pope Francis’ new representative said they’ll be in constant contact with authorities and will always seek protect the victims in each case.

Seeking the truth is one thing. However, the punishment should not be a slap on the hand, telling the offenders they are bad boys, and sending them off to some church sanctorium to pray and reflect on their sins. What the perps have done requires jail time.

From: Dominican Republic, ****Raise your words, not your voice. Rain grows food, not thunder.****
Why then the vatican, stops protecting the two priests, that are being accused of pedophilia, and send them to the DR, where they will have a public trial, and be able to defend themselves?
The vatican's stance is unacceptable, allowing diplomatic sanctuary to discredited priests, that abused minor children, and sodomized them with perverted sexual acts.
The evidence against these two perverts is abundant, and widely documented by personal statements, eyewitness accounts, photographs, videos, and computer records.
Public opinion has already condemned the pedophile priests, and the vatican is responsible for criminal and punitive damages, that are being accrued by their victims.
Instead of protecting these criminals, under the guise of the holy see, they should be defrocking them publicly, and making them an example for future violators of the public trust.

The headline should not be used by perverted minds, to use the media attention provoked by the actions of pedophile priests, for political purposes.
While some of us may disagree with the strong stance regarding our nationality, that comes from the frequent defense of our principles, from Cardinal Lopez Rodriguez, it is evident that above all the cardinal cares for the Dominican Republic, and its preservation as an independent nation.
Unlike the traitors and "fellow travelers" whose sole purpose in this media, is to mislead, divert, confuse, cheat, misrepresent, insult, and falsely accuse others, because of their patriotic stance in behalf of our República Dominicana (Not Saint Domingue), and the continuing struggle for our best interests.

If the Pope really wanted truth they would have to disband the Church when they realize that it is all one big Lie.

But it is not the role of the Cardinal to defend the DR ...it is to save and nurture the souls of his flock..nationalism is the childhood of civilisationand until we all start thinking globally and work together, the world will continue to struggle ..I think he is past his due date

Nicolas is the major Jesuit. The concordant gives him political power to tell things like it is. He is going to be the Cardinal for life. If he ever steps down it will be to take the presidents seat. Que viva Lopez Rodriguez. A true Dominican !!!
