Barahona, Dominican Republic. - President Danilo Medina said Thursday he’s not looking to become a leader or his re-election with his Administration’s work and instead the Dominican people’s wellbeing, mostly the poor.

Speaking at groundbreaking for the dam at Monte Grande (southwest), the Head of State said among other things, when he leaves office and walks the streets he wants people to say "thanks president Medina for what you did for the Dominican people."

The new dam and the reconstruction of the hydroelectric facility at Sabana Yegua will cost US$401.0 million.

As to the planned tourism infrastructure for nearby Bahía de Las Aguilas, Medina said he hasn’t forgotten the project, since in his view, would help the southern region develop.

He said he’s aware of the legal issues with the land fraud case, but “that project hasn’t been forgotten.”

How many times has the public heard this line from the split tongues of politicians? Yet, Danilo is off to a good start to depart from the questionable political behavior of making promises rarely kept, made just to please the audience. He needs to make fewer promises yet empower himself to keep those he makes.

From: Dominican Republic, (( DEPORT THE HAITIANS, BUILD THE BORDER WALL ! )) The only thing necessary for the triumph of Haitian evil is for good Dominican men to do nothing.
So far so good. Medina has up to now done more than promised. Lets hope he keeps it up and double his effort before he is gone. The next president will probably go back demagoguery, with empty promises and no delivery. En hora buena !!! LETS GET IT DONE DANILO ASAP !!!!!

Blah-blah-blah...Mr. President, fraud case has nothing to do with infrastructure. There is no reason to wait with building highway at southwest coast. As of Barahona airport, with no international flight, it is just land with no use. And tourist need shopping malls as well. You should skip your next personal Santo Domingo shopping and go to Barahona province instead. And take your wife with you. Will buy nada there.

The Barahona peninsula is the ideal place for a national park where camels, emus, ostriches, wild burros, and coyotes (wolves?) can be introduced to roam free.

The whole area is mostly desert land with few people or endemic fauna/flora... Except for bahia de las aguilas, there's little to see. This region can be turned into a park with nice hotels, that can offer long tours on horseback, ( to see animals), and paragliding.

What do y'all think, eh?

The first RD president that SEEMS to have Dominicans as the focus of his administration, not money through corruption, drug-dealing, and stealing.

And Leonel has been your CHAMPION of corruption, drug- dealing, and stealing. Hopefully he's gone from office FOREVER, and takes the biatch with him.
