NYC woman says Telex-Free scam caused 6 suicides in Dominican town

New York.- The Dominican Maria Cordones, who attracted investors for the ponzi scheme TelexFree, on Thursday said that at least six of her countrymen have already taken their own lives in the east region near her hometown El Seibo, where there are several hospitalized with heart ailments and high blood pressure.

In an exclusive interview with Dominican reporter Miguel Cruz Tejada, Cordones promised to disclose the names of the alleged suicide victims. "My sister was also a recruiter and the person who introduced her to the TelexFree business sold an inheritance his father left him to invest all the money."

The woman, who said she’ lived in New York for 17 years, where she owns a business, added that 40 people she recruited lost several thousand dollars. “TelexFree’s first company of crooks went by the name of Disk Matrix-TelexFree, which also disappeared,” Cordones said, quoted by elnuevodiario.com.do.
