‘Stop harassing’ air traffic controllers, world group tells the govt.

Santo Domingo.- The International Air Traffic Controllers Federation (IFATCA) on Saturday urged president Danilo Medina to put an end to what it calls the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute’s harassment of air traffic controllers, of which 13 have been fired thus far.

John Carr, IFATCA executive vice president for the Americas, said the international agency is deeply concerned with the situation of aviation security in the Dominican Republic.

The executive said the situation with the country’s air traffic controllers has been taken to the IFTACA on several occasions.

Carr spoke in a press conference at the Hotel Clarion, attended by Jacobo Ramo, head of the labor unions grouped in the CNTD, Dominican Air Traffic Controllers Association (ADCA) president Wellington Almonte and Dominican Pilots Association president Eddy Rodríguez.
