Santo Domingo.- National police chief Manuel Castro Castillo on Thursday revealed that a man and a minor shot and killed police 2nd Lt. lieutenant Mercedes the Carmen Torres, to allegedly steal her service weapon.

He said the Police are on the lookout for Juan Carlos de la Cruz Adames, 21, and a 16 year-old youngster, reason why his name is omitted.

The police chief said he can’t explain why de la Cruz, who’s been charged with felonies several times, including three homicides and rape, isn’t being held.

Torres, assigned to the Metropolitan Transit Authority (Amet) was gunned down while directing traffic on the bridge to the town of Villa Mella, Santo Domingo North.
