Immigration System crash leads to chaos at Las Americas Airport

Santo Domingo.- The system that checks a passenger’s immigration status at Las Americas Airport broke down since early Monday, forcing manual inspection amid raging protests from fliers, leading to chaos and long lines at the check in counters.

Dozens of arriving and departing passengers feared losing their flights from the delays, as a growing throng repeated questions to an overwhelmed airlines staff.

The chaos prompted the passengers to demand the presence of executives of the Dominican airports management company (Aerodom), which have to issue a statement on the breakdown.

The officials only asked for patience from the passengers and promise to resolve the glitch soon.
