More than 200,000 locals, foreigners can’t leave the country

Santo Domingo.- At least 200,000 Dominicans are banned from leaving from the country, while 12,000 foreign residents mostly European, face the same situation, as a result of pending litigation.

The foreigners have pending cases on real estate and other properties, revealed Immigration Agency and Justice Ministry sources quoted by hoy.com.do.

Travel impediments in the Dominican Republic are requested mostly by judges and prosecutors and executed by the Justice Ministry, through Immigration Agency offices at ports, border crossings and airports.

The bans are also entered into the Immigration system after convictions for crimes, allegations of rape, corruption, forgery and falsification, people and drug smuggling, traffic accidents, among others.
