Santo Domingo.- United States ambassador James W. Brewster and his husband Bob Satawake hosted a reception at his residence Thursday night to mark his country’s 238th Independence Day.

The celebration began with the hoisting of the flags by the U.S> Marines at the Embassy followed by the national anthems of both countries.

Soprano Antonia Chabebe sang the Dominican national anthem a cappella, followed by the United States’ with Crystal Shaver, a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic.

In his keynote speech, Brewster cited the U.S. Declaration of independence: "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

DT editor should refrase the word husband because the Dominican laws does not recognize the marriage between two people of the same sex. DT should it instead just wrote. The American ambassador hosted a 4th of July party.

The media is promoting same sex marriage.

I can not deny anything that the ambassador said except the pursuit of happiness should not be at the expense of others and should be within the law

What is that?????????????????
I always stand against injustice whenever it comes from. I do not try to defend DR but, DR do not deserve that treatment. I do not care how many time those two malicons f*** each other per day. Little bit respect for the values, norms and principles of this country. It seems to me there is complot against DR development and progress.DR government should have courage to declare this ambassador persona non grata. Obama won't do that to Cuba and Venezuela and some other countries in the middle East. DR government so weakkkkkkkk to take action. I feel sorry for decent Dominican people.Dominican people is time to wake up to defend your cultural values otherwise you'll disappear as nation. This not a joke!!!!!!!
I am not an hypocrite, but I always on victims side.

The thing is
we should respect people lifestyle, but this ambassador tries to impose and promote to your nation his lifestyle as normal norm. This is the way imperialist countries work particularly USA to third country. you mind be too busy to fight some poor Haitians who try to have a better life as prominent threat to your country while you forget your real enemies.

Personally, I like Brewsty for the free publicity he brings to our country. His radical views, ( as opposed to ours), and behavior, stirs up a lot of emotional and morality sentiments.

This can be good and bad. On the good side, it tells the world DR is a fun place to come to, to enjoy the scenery and weather. On the bad side, it portrait us as a nation of intolerance. Where religion and misplaced morality, condemns gays to discrimination, ridicule, and are viewed as suspicious characters.

Some day, a very enterprising person will build a secluded hotel by a secluded beach, and offer its services, exclusively, to the gay community.
Such a person will rake in hundreds of millions of dollars. There must be millions of gays in North America and Europe who'll love to spend time, fall in love with our DR, and each other, for the benefit of all.

Being a Heterosexual, would you want to apply for a job in such a place.?

""Put money before everything...low life""

Contrary to what most people think, Money is EVERYTHING.! It all depends on how it's obtained and spent.
It can bring joy, but it can also bring despair. It is a TOOL which can be used for good or evil.

Regardless, it's always better to have it than not.!.. I'd much rather be rich and miserable, than poor and miserable.
Sometimes misplaced morality can bring destruction and much grief. This being a good reason not to follow in the dogmas of religion, and/or local folklores which imposes strict views on reality.

Complaining about others' lifestyles won't get me a cent richer. However, making lemonade, will.

For one reason or another, someone will find a reason to project their insecurities, their negativity, and their fears into other people life's. Why do you care if he is gay or not gay? His sexuality will not impact nothing in the Dominican Republic. Dominican Republic has incredible amount of gays in the country. Actually I seen more gays in Dominican then any other Island. The media is not promoting gay marriage. He is married. Idiot. Just because it is not acknowledge in the Dominican doesn't mean he cannot call his other partner his husband.

Kirkie, do you know what's goin on? or do you just crawled out the wood work? We don't care if the guy loves taking in the rear, or if the island have a lot of "males" like him, what we care about is the fact that he's promoting his gay agenda at a militant level. We don't need that crap here, our society is messed up as it is.

"Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others".

From the "Ice-Age to The Dole-Age"
T'here is but "One Con-cern", I have just "Discovered"

Some girls are bigger than others (Penis)
Some girls are bigger than others (Penis)
Some girl's mothers are bigger than
Other girl's mothers

As Ant'hony said to "Cleo-patra"
As he opened a crate of Ale, oh, I say

Send me the pillow, the one that you Dream on
Send me the pillow, the one that you Dream on
And I'll send You Mine.

Do homosexuals have the right to choose, the person they want to share their life with, and engage in consensual sex? Yes we agree.
But then to promote persistently his gay agenda, fly the gay liberation flag in the front of the U.S. embassy, and proselyte daily homosexual behavior, is something clearly unacceptable. More so from highest official presentative of a foreign country.
Mr. Brewster behaviors, and 24/7 promotion of homosexuality, is pushing his gay agenda, to the point of abrasiveness, and welcoming serious condemnation from Dominican society, and confrontations with religious groups.
Cool it sir.

This is a endless battle. NO man what. People opinion will not change. Dominicans are so worried about gay men infiltrating they military or government. The last time i see a gay man in politics they do a good job. Besides why don't you start getting rid of corruption first.

Gay flag in front of the embassy.? Really.? I didn't know that. I'll have to go there and see for myself.
If this is true, then we're talking about radicalism. This is never a good thing. It polarizes and alienates people. It works against whatever one's fighting for.

This defeats common sense. Brewsty is getting out hand and provoking more anti-gay sentiments, which is, obviously, not what a person seeking acceptance and equal rights/protection of gays, and other minorities, should be doing.
This is somewhat akin to flounting one's prowess in masculinity, advertising the joys of bedding women, and abvocating debauchery. Not a cool thing to do in a mostly Catholic nation, which supposedly values the sanctity of marriage.

...Not that we do. Adultery is commonplace, and we actually applaud and celebrate the number of women a man can have. Of course, If women stray, some end up dead, victim of a machoman bent of preserving his "honor." What a joke this country is, eh.?
